Once again, this year I had the privilege of photographing my favorite hometown event, the “Celebration in Boring.”
As you might know from reading my blog, Boring is an unincorporated community located in Clackamas County, Oregon. It was named after William H. Boring, a union veteran who moved to the area after the Civil War, and is the place that my wife and I have called home since 2008.
It’s an amazing community full of diverse thought and warm hearts.
In September of each year, the Boring/Damascus Grange and the Friends of the Boring Station Trailhead Park organize a celebration for the community. The day-long event is complete with pony rides by Oregon Animal Rescue, a “waterball” competition among the local firefighters of the Boring Fire District, some amazing and creative face painting by Lotta the Clown, a classic car show, “goat poop bingo” (a local favorite!), egg and water balloon tosses, and a variety of entertainment including local bands.
The Celebration in Boring raises funds to support playground equipment and maintenance of the Boring Station Trailhead Park, which is located in the heart of our community.
