Emma and JD’s wedding took place at the the Laurelhurst Club–just across the street from Laurelhurst Park in Portland, Oregon where they first met while playing frisbee. Before their wedding ceremony, Emma and her bridal party got ready at the home of a family friend about a mile from Laurelhurst Park. And then Emma and JD met each other at the bottom of the brick stairs at Laurelhurst Park where the bride and groom saw each other for the first time. At the time of their wedding, multiple forest fires were burning in the region. The smoke that was high in the atmosphere created a bright orange warm light as the late afternoon sun moved lower in the sky. This provided a beautiful back light to their portraits in the park.
Family portraits at Powell Butte nature park in Portland are always special. But come fall, when the late summer sun kisses Powell Butte’s golden fields, family portraits taken there seem to have an extra sparkle. They give off an almost magical luminescence. And photographing the Smith Family—Annie, James, Michael, Mathew, and Ellie—turned out to be as magical as the location we chose for their portraits.
Tim and Tanna were married at the Heisen House Vineyards, surrounded by pastoral farm land near Battle Ground, Washington. The vineyard features a nationally registered historic barn along with a beautifully landscaped turn of the century Victorian style home, where Tanna and her bridal party dressed before her wedding. The vinyard is also home to a variety of free-range chickens and one comfortably dressed dog. The event took place outdoors in a small field below a giant tree. The wedding ceremony was short and simple and included a tree planting ceremony, which symbolized the love that Tim and Tanna share and how their relationship will continue to grow.
Emily is a high school senior at Lake Oswego High School who loves listening to music, drwaing, painting and writing. She also performs in theater. And boasts about the fact that she was once in four separate countries in a single week (the United States, Canada, England, and France). Emily aptly describes herself as imaginative, creative, sensitive, and independent. She’s a serious high school student, but also looking forward to planning a road trip with her best friends soon after she graduates! Emily is tall (as in taller than me tall!) with pale skin, strawberry blond hair and beautiful green eyes. As a result, she wanted high school senior pictures that would complement those features, and especially bring out her eyes.
