Jessica is a special high school senior at Lake Oswego High School. She’s creative, artistic, and full of energy. She says she’s a bit shy around new people, but if you met her for the first time you sure wouldn’t know it! She enjoys reading and writing stories. And loves music, dance, choir, and acting. She cares deeply for the people around her and likes hanging out with her friends.

And she’s an adventurous soul too. Jessica had her heart set on taking her high school senior Portraits in the mountains or by a river. But not any old river, mind you. She was adamantly against having her senior portraits taken along some large, slow-moving river, like the Columbia or the Willamette.

Instead, Jessica was after whitewater. She had just come back from a whitewater rafting trip with her family. So Jessica and her mom began scouting for the perfect location for her high school senior pictures. Their search spanned from the White River in Washington to the Clackamas River Narrows near Estacada. Finally, we settled on Tucker Park in Odell Oregon, along the Hood River.
On the day of her high school senior portrait session, Jessica visited the talented Katya Lapierre for a hair and makeup session. Katya is an experienced professional freelance wedding makeup artist, hair stylist, and esthetician based out of Hood River, Oregon Katya id an incredible job and it made Jessica’s senior portrait experience all the more exciting!

Tucker Park is small, but it sure packs a big punch. It was a bit of a hike to get down to the river, but the scramble was well worth it. We photographed Jessica on the large boulders strewn along the banks of the Hood River. And it didn’t take Jessica too long to decide she wanted some of her senior pictures with her bare feet in the river!

Toward the end of her session, Jessica and I decided to hightail it toward Mount Hood on our way back to Portland. Unfortunately, we arrived at White River Pass sometime after the sun had dipped into the valley. But we still managed to capture a few senior portraits of Jessica with the White River and Mount Hood in the frame.
Jessica enjoys listening to music from rock to classical. She’s a big fan of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande and is especially keen on Christmas music.
And when it comes to Taylor, she’s old school like me! You see, Jessica and I were both listening to Taylor Swift before Taylor Swift was cool. A few weeks after her senior portrait session, I showed Jessica and her parents a slideshow of her images. The movie was set to the 2010 tune “Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift. It’s an older song of Taylor’s and I didn’t expect Jessica to recognize it. But she sang her way right through the images — she knew every single lyric by heart!
