My dog Cookie and I spent the last few days backpacking in Oregon’s Mount Hood Wilderness.  At about 6:30pm on Saturday night, Cookie and I were hiking along at about 6500 feet when we came across  a woman camped on Gnarl Ridge—her tent pitched looking out at an amazing view of Mt. Jefferson and the South Sister.

Her only mistake was that she left the front door of her tent unzipped and wide open. At this point Cookie saw her opportunity. We watched helplessly as Cookie (who was exhausted from 25 miles of hiking during the previous days) burst into the tent, dusty paws, doggy pack and all, and proceeded to crawl into this woman’s sleeping bag! Unfortunately I was too embarrassed to take the time for a photograph, but here’s a few shots of Cookie on the trail. (Click on the images to see larger versions).
