“Wyeast”

$200.00$275.00

Oregon’s Mt Hood was originally named Wy’east (often spelled “Wyeast”) by the local Native Americans. Legends tell of two brothers “Wy’east” (Mount Hood) and “Pahto” or “Klickitat” (Mount Adams, who battled for the fair maiden “La-wa-la-clough” or “Loowit” (Mount St. Helens).

On October 29th, 1792, Lt. William Broughton, a member of Captain George Vancouver’s discovery expedition, renamed the mountain after Samuel Hood who was a British Admiral. Whatever you call Oregon’s tallest peak, this print in her image will bring majesty to your home.
